Reminders
A reminder didn't arrive. Why?
Your phone's system shows the reminders, so a missed one usually comes down to a phone setting. Check these in order:
- Notifications for Ammel are allowed. On an iPhone, that's Settings › Notifications › Ammel, with Lock Screen and Banners on.
- A Focus or Do Not Disturb was on and Ammel is not among its allowed apps.
- On Android, Alarms & reminders is allowed for Ammel and battery optimisation is off for it, so the phone doesn't hold a reminder back to save power.
- The medication is paused, its course has ended, or it is taken as needed. As-needed medications have no reminders.
- Settings › Time zone in Ammel is the one you expect. Dose times follow that zone, not your phone's.
Ammel's Reminder check, in its Settings, reads these switches for you and says which one to change.
What happens when I travel to another time zone?
Nothing moves by itself. When your phone arrives in a new zone, Ammel asks whether to follow it. Until you answer, your dose times and reminders stay in the zone you had.
Can I answer a reminder without opening the app?
Yes. Press and hold the notification, or pull it down, to mark the dose as taken, snooze it or skip it. The answer is saved with the time you gave it. With App lock on, you unlock first: an iPhone asks for Face ID or your passcode, and on Android Ammel opens to its lock.
Your data
Where is my data kept?
On your phone, in Ammel's own storage. Like other app data, it can be in your phone's backups; Ammel itself never sends it anywhere. There is no account and no Ammel server, so nobody else holds your record and nobody can recover it for you. The privacy notice has the details.
How do I move my record to a new phone?
Ammel has no account or cloud copy of its own. Your record moves with your phone's own transfer: on an iPhone, restore from an iCloud or computer backup of the old one, or use Quick Start; on Android, restore from your Google backup or copy from the old phone when you set up the new one. A backup moves only between phones of the same kind. A PDF or CSV export is a copy to keep or share, not a way to move: Ammel cannot read it back into a new phone.
How do I share my record with my doctor?
Make a report from the export in Ammel: pick the period and the medications, then share the PDF or save it to your phone. The CSV export is the same record as spreadsheet files. The files you make stay in Ammel, under Your files, until you delete them. The report page shows what it holds.
How do I delete everything?
Settings › Delete all data erases every medication, dose, symptom, setting, reminder and exported file, and returns Ammel to its first run. This cannot be undone. Ammel keeps no copy anywhere else; only a backup your phone made earlier still holds one.
How do I turn product analytics off?
Settings › Product analytics. Turning it off stops sending at once. To delete events that were already sent, use Request deletion on the same screen before you delete the app or its data.
App lock
What does App lock protect, and what doesn't it?
With App lock on, Ammel asks for your face, fingerprint or passcode when it opens, immediately or after the time you set in Lock after. It keeps the app's screens from someone holding your unlocked phone.
It does not lock your reminders. By default they don't name your medications, and neither does the Lock Screen widget; if you turn off Hide medication names, anyone who can see your lock screen can read them. App lock also does not protect the files you have shared outside the app.
Everything else
Does Ammel cost anything? Do I need an account?
Ammel is free, with no account, no subscription and no advertising.
Which phones does Ammel run on?
An iPhone with iOS 16.4 or later, or an Android phone with Android 7.0 or later.
Can Ammel tell me whether a dose is right?
No. Ammel keeps the record you enter and reminds you of the times you set. Dosing questions are for your doctor or pharmacist.
